10 Useful iPhone Apps

Here is a list of what we think are some of the most useful iPhone applications today. Of course there are many iPhone applications out there (over 300,000 as of today!) but this is a list of some of the ones we found to be the most helpful.

Google Mobile (Free)

The Google app is best known for it's voice search function which allows you to state something and the app will use the phone's GPS to find it. For example, if you say "Pizza", it will instantly provide a list of the nearest Pizza places to you. It also lets you search your phone's contacts, quickly search through your history by seeing which searches you recently performed, search through your phone's email, google maps, images, news and shopping, as well as letting you use pictures to search the web. The google app is very useful and is a highly recommended download.

Appzilla ($0.99)

If you have done research on other sites about the best iPhone applications, you have surely seen this app mentioned many times before. The reason is Appzilla is a 0.99 cent application which includes 90 small apps which are helpful in your daily life. From an application which can detect motion, to a tip calculator, Appzilla has an app for almost every occasion. Personally, I use Appzilla for many reasons and highly recommend it, if only for it's 0.99 cent price, you could easily download 90 separate applications all of which cost one dollar each, or you can download Appzilla and get them all for one very low price. Note that some of the apps included are rarely used. though most are quite useful.

Redlaser (Free)

Redlaser can scan a bar code and retrieve product information, online prices and local store prices instantly. This handy app can help you find the lowest price when shopping, and is an invaluable tool for anyone who loves to shop and find the lowest prices. Though keep in mind while Redlaser works well most of the time, but it's scans can fail.

Turn your iPhone into a powerful flash light. iTorch features high intensity light which can light up even the darkest of places. Great for reading a book at night, finding your way on a dark street or even in the woods, or any other place where you need a flash light. iTorch comes in two different versions, the free version is just a powerful flashlight, with no other features. The paid $0.99 version features an authentic flame, a reading lamp, variety of bulb styles, full white screen, the ability to change color by shaking the iPhone, as well as the ability to remember settings you used. Keep in mind that this app uses quiet a lot of battery power.

You can use Evernote in school for class notes as well as research. You can also instantly jot down any ideas you have for upcoming projects. Voice memos come in handy as well.

OmniFocus ($19.99)

One of the more expensive apps (but worth it), OmniFocus will make your daily life easier. This app can help remind you of your daily tasks and help manage your time appropriately. OmniFocus can provide directions and location based reminders. In the developers own words, OmniFocus allows you to "Keep track of actions by project, place, person, or date. Bring up a shopping list, agenda items to discuss at work, tasks for home, and any other lists you need."

Never get lost outside again. This Augmented Reality app uses terrain data from NASA to compute the area around you anywhere on the planet. Panoramascope uses the compass on the iPhone to orient itself and labels land features such as mountain peaks with accuracy. This app is great for anyone who likes going hiking or camping. The future is here.
